IOS 6 is scheduled to be released this fall. Many are speculating that it’s not just the OS being upgraded in Fall, it will be the launch of the iPhone 5 with IOS 6. Apple has already mentioned 10 of their most significant upgrades for this IOS release but my attention was really drawn to the following 5 IOS 6 features:

3D Map

Say bye-bye to your GPS! Thank you Apple because me and my Tom Tom are not best friends. The new 3D map comes with a flyover to take a 3D view of buildings and structures to give you a more interactive experience.

Pass Book App

Store your airline tickets, movie tickets, boarding passes and even your Starbucks gift card in this really cool app. The iOS 6 powered device will scan details for getting you into a concert, a theater or even to book an airline ticket. That’s not all. Your device will  notify you of any delay or change in plans; this information will show up in your updates.

Much Improved Siri

Siri is the future! Have Siri tell you sports updates, book dinner reservations, launch an app, buy movie tickets, read restaurant reviews and much more. The voice recognition has been improved and is being launched in multiple languages such as Italian, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, French, Cantonese and Ancient Samarian! lol… no Samarian…jk!

Finally, Siri will also dictate your tweets and status for your Twitter and Facebook profile. Now that’s awesome!

Photo Sharing with iCloud

Gone are  the days of emailing huge image files to your friends and family. No need to take up storage space on your device or home computer. Simply add your pictures to the iCloud and access it on any iOS 6 device.

Enhanced Phone App

How many times have you received a text or a phone call in the middle of the night while you were sleeping? Even if you try to ignore the voice mail message, it will continuously keep going off until you swipe the screen. Annoying! Now, you will be able to put the device in ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode; blocking all calls and texts from everyone unless you separate a small list of important people who can reach you at any time. This way you don’t miss out on anything important. Such a simple upgrade but will be used daily by most people.
